I cannot believe I forgot about one amazing part It just goes to show you how much happened in this little film.
I will try not to spoil things for those who haven't seen it yet...but think back to Fantasia and all the incredible experiemental-fx driven animations that were created for that movie. Basically, Disney was trying to illustrate music using a symphonic concert with Leopold Stokowski and the Philadelphia Orchestra.
What if you wanted to illustrate with animation how cheese tasted, or smelled? In the Fall of 2006, Michel Gagne was contacted by Brad Bird to create a series of animated vignettes for his movie Ratatouille. The concept was to design and animate abstract representations of what the character was tasting. Just awesome!
