I am so excited about this movie. I wasn't a big fan of Open Season (except for those crazy bunnies!), but Surf's Up has won my heart. Even though penguins seem to be the trend in animation today...SPA is kicking butt from what I can tell with this movie. Finally a bunch of characters that hold their own personality, character design and body language. Each penguin has a style all his own through its design, weight, hair and persona. I just love the one with his hair covering his face like a sheep dog...each character reminds me of guys I used to surf with!I can see old surfing buds of mine in the eyes of these characters with their droopy lids, crossed eyed stares and carefree attitudes. Even the big guy reminds me of a big kahuna who used to ride with us every once in a while when he took a day off his day job - uni diving. I really hope they have a "shaper" character that can't talk well and coughs a lot because he has inhaled so much fiberglass...oh wait...their boards are wood - oh well!
The chicken reminds me of this crazy guy who used to ride with us called Pepper...I wonder what happened to Pepper? Pepper - you out there?
